Genius Hour DONE
Today I finally completed my Genius Hour Project. It should be noted that I may have not completed my initial goal which was to create a story about a cat getting into a box. I did create a video of a cat going towards a box so I think it counts for now. So, what did I learn about myself during this time? Well, I learned that it was rather difficult staying focused on creating this video especially since I have been so busy. So, finding time to actually sit down and do this was rather challenging. Plus, I found it very difficult to find the proper software to use to create a video such as this which was due particularly to my tight budget. I tried to use free online software and also iMovie to create this.
I settled for Moovly which I thought was decent, but had limited options for its free users as well as I had to triple check that I always saved my work. Another challenge was actually creating the animation because I didn't want to use paint or some drawing app to create my drawings I decided to do a google search on cats walk cycle and ended up taking screenshots of the different walking steps that cat use. This project took a bit of time because I had to ensure that each clip was only 1 sec after one another (that way we can see the image moving) and that it was the same amount of time.

With regards to the software, Moovly had troubles signing me in again so I ended up losing my work, but thankfully I had uploaded an earlier version on youtube that is why my cat is not actually going inside of the box. I think I achieved my main objective here which was to learn to use an animation software and to actually create my own animation character. All in all, this has been a very interesting experience and I hope to share what I learned while creating this project with a future class. Below is my project:
